Synopsis
Wild Way is an auteur-driven documentary that tells the story of a trekking journey through the tundra of Greenland, one of Europe’s last truly unspoiled territories. The protagonist, who is also the narrator, is part of The Walking Robin, an organization specializing in hiking, tent expeditions, and self-sufficiency in the most remote regions of the world. In this journey, he takes part not as a guide nor as a client, but from an intermediate position that allows him to fully experience the adventure while maintaining an external, reflective gaze. Driven by the desire to escape social constraints and the frenzy of modern life, the protagonist joins a small group of people — not experts in Arctic environments or extreme adventures — motivated by curiosity, personal longing, or the need to live a radical experience in the wilderness. The film narrates this collective journey through an intimate and minimalistic approach: there are no challenges to overcome or feats to accomplish, only the shared daily life among glaciers, lakes, and endless landscapes, marked by the rhythm of walking, the management of the essentials, and mutual support. Wild Way explores wilderness not as a place of isolation but as a space of connection: with nature, with the group, and with oneself. The narrator’s voice accompanies the story reflectively, following the thread of a thought that evolves along the way, as the landscape becomes a mirror of inner transformations. The footage was shot entirely in the field, during the crossing, without any external crew. The protagonist, actively participating in the journey with an 18 kg backpack containing all survival essentials, adopted an ultra-light filming kit: a compact camera, a small foldable drone, and the phone’s integrated microphone. Even energy management — limited to a few spare batteries and two power banks — reflects the essential and self-sufficient spirit of the expedition. Through a sober and immersive visual construction, Wild Way delivers a profound human experience, inviting viewers to rethink our relationship with nature, time, and simplicity
Objectives
Its goal is to explore the personal, emotional, and social motivations that drive people to undertake such immersive adventures — a need that may appear unusual but is, in fact, deeply human and essential.
